Built by a Homeowner Who Couldn't Find the Answers

EpoxyScout exists because finding a qualified epoxy flooring contractor — and actually understanding the process — shouldn't be this hard.

The Problem I Couldn't Solve — Until I Built the Solution

A few years ago I decided I wanted to epoxy my garage floor. Living somewhere with cold, snowy winters, the floor had taken a beating — cracks, stains, the works. Epoxy seemed like the perfect fix: it would seal and repair the floor, make it easier to clean, and give the garage a completely different look and feel.

Finding the right contractor turned out to be surprisingly frustrating. Pricing was nearly impossible to find online. Nobody explained clearly how the process worked, how long it would take, or what I needed to do to prepare. I had a lot of cracks to deal with — would that be a problem? Who was even qualified to do this work in my area?

Then there was the harder challenge: convincing my wife. She wasn't sold on the expense. I knew that if she could actually seewhat the finished floor would look like — our garage, our dimensions, a real finish — she'd be on board. But every visualization tool I found online looked like it was built in 2005. Flat swatches, generic renders, nothing that looked like a real floor.

So I built one. A realistic visualization tool that took a photo of your actual space and showed you the finished result. My wife saw it, and she was immediately on board. That's when I knew this tool wasn't just useful for me — it was exactly what every homeowner going through this process needed.

That personal experience became the blueprint for EpoxyScout. I set out to build the resource I wish had existed — one that solved all three problems at once:

1

A real contractor directory

Vetted, license-verified contractors with actual ratings, BBB scores, and service areas — all in one place, no hunting required.

2

The information you actually need

Cost guides, process explainers, prep checklists, and honest FAQs so you go into the project with eyes open.

3

A visualization tool that works

Upload a photo of your space, pick a finish, and see a realistic preview of the finished floor before you spend a dollar.

There was one more piece I hadn't anticipated but turned out to be just as important: making it easy to actually hire someone. Not just find them — connect with them, get bids, and move forward without a dozen phone calls. We built that too.

“We're the epoxy scout you're looking for.”
